John Skinner, MS, LASAC, ASAT John is a Therapist with Open Hearts Open Minds Counseling and Consulting Services, who specializes in the treatment of addiction, particularly compulsive sexual behavior and substance use disorders.
John is driven by a desire to help people become their healthiest selves possible. His person-centered approach to counseling ensures client goals are in sharp focus throughout the therapeutic journey.
John holds a Master’s degree in Addictions Counseling from Grand Canyon University, is a Licensed Associate Substance Abuse Counselor, and a certified Associate Sex Addiction Therapist. He is a member of the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals and the Association for Addiction Professionals.
John is trained in the Gottman Method of Couples Therapy and in the treatment of anxiety concerns.
John is also a military veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years; he then worked at Arizona State University for more than a decade before becoming a therapist. His singular goal now is to be a source of encouragement and resource for those seeking help.
